Accepting Abstracts. The Spanish National Committee for Large Dams (SPANCOLD) is pleased to invite you to participate in the XIII Spanish Dam Conferences to be held at the World Trade Center in Barcelona from June 17 to 20, 2024. SPANCOLD has organized these days since 1985, having traveled throughout much of the Spanish geography during all this time. On this occasion, the Ebro Hydrographic Confederation and the Catalan Water Agency (ACA) acted as hosts, with the collaboration of CIMNE. At the Spanish Dam Conferences, all those issues of regulation and use of water that are considered of special interest to Administrations and Public Bodies, Companies, Professionals, Universities and Research Centers are debated and analyzed. In a context like the current one, the conference will discuss two topics of special interest, the safety of dams and reservoirs and the role of dams in the face of climate change and the energy transition. The application of the new dam safety regulations, their conservation, maintenance and rehabilitation, and innovation in their planning, design, construction and operation, are undoubtedly topics of special attention for the sector. At the same time, the necessary adaptation to climate change, guaranteeing with the development of hydraulic energy storage a safe integration of all renewable energies, will be key to achieving a correct energy transition.
